A Japanese brand called Canmake also makes something like ardell's brow&lash growth. My friend uses the canmake one, and she says she likes it better than the ardell.
I second Ardell. It's been helping me get fuller brows too. I haven't tried anything else though. I believe you need a prescription for Latisse though.
Latisse is bimatoprost which causes lash growth in it's users. Google reviews. Read up on side effects and look up the reviews that also experienced side effects.
Now read the reviews for products like rapidlash and peter thomas roth's concoction.
There have been recent news articles commenting on the fact that either retail lash growth products don't work but rather moisturize and keep hairs from falling out or if they do work, more than likely contain bimatoprost but does not list it on their list of ingredients (something that MANY MANY cosmetic companies do). I've gone over hundreds of reviews for multiple retail products and I've come across a lot of the same complaints as those who use Latisse, darkening of skin, darkening of iris pigmentation, etc. and the worst one was where all the lashes fell out. They're about the same price but at least with the one's you can get at sephora and nordstrom's, you don't have to go through the hassle of going to the doctor.
Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin. RapidLash too uses a prostaglandin, Isopropyl Cloprostenate.
A few of over-the-counter lash growth products that really worked — Jan Marini, Revitalash — had to be reformulated because Allergan holds the patent on bimatoprost and sued or because the FDA realized there was a drug in the ingredients and cracked down.
If I could afford it, I’d try RapidLash but, I’d keep an eye on the ingredient list for changes.
I realize that and that's what I'm saying though, that there are a lot of companies out there that are illegally placing drugs in their products without saying so on the labels (which they're actually allowed to do since they're not regulated by the FDA and sold as a cosmetic product as oppose to medicinal). As for reformulations, Revitalash reformulated about 3 times in the last year or so and it still contains prostaglandin analogues. FDA has yet to go after the Peter Thomas Roth line and that is the #1 guess on my list as the product that contains the same ingredients as Lastisse considering the reviews I've read.
Yes FDA does somewhat regulate cosmetics products but unfortunately, doesn't usually follow through. Way too many products out on the market right now that should be recalled if it were true.
I started using Latisse in November (?)... but I didn't use it religiously (BUT, i did notice the lashes on the outer corners of my eyes were getting longer!). I started using it regularly (as in, every night) at the beginning of the month, so far nothing has changed... but it's only been a couple weeks.
I know (and work with)people who have been using Latisse for about a year, and people who've used the same product (same ingredients) different name prior to Latisse's release to the market and have had AMAZING results. However, the cosmetic surgeon's assistant I work with, you can tell she's abused it, as she has what looks like a faint brown (think light brown eyeliner) on her top lids when she's not wearing make-up, though I must say she has the fullest, longest eyelashes I've ever seen on someone.
